 1. Where did most of the people live in early times ? Write about their life. 

Ans. People have lived on the banks of the River Narmada for several thousand years. They are skilled gatherers i.e. people who gathered food. They knew about plants in the surrounding forest and collected roots, fruits and other forest produce for their food. They also hunted animals. 

2. Where are Suleiman and Kirthar hills ? What did they grow ? 

Ans. Suleiman and Kirthar hills are to the northwest. Some of the areas where men and women first began to grow crops such as wheat and barley about 8000 year ago are located here. People also began rearing animal like sheep, goat and cattle and lived in villages. 

3. Name 4 places where agriculture developed in early times. 

Ans. The four places where agriculture developed in  early times are :

Ans. About 4700 years ago some of the earliest cities developed on the banks of the Indus and its tributaries. Later about 2500 year ago, cities developed on the banks of the Ganga and its tributaries along the sea coasts.

Ans. In ancient times the area of the south of the Ganga was called Magadha. Its ruler were very powerful and set up the large kingdom.

Ans.  South Asia called a sub-continent because although it is very large and is separated from the rest of Asia by seas, hills and mountains.

Ans. Manuscripts are books that were written by hand (this comes from Latin word manu, meaning hands. They were usually written on palm leaf or on specially prepared bark of a tree known as the birch. which grows in the Himalayas.
